Vacation Time!

Hi folks,

I’m about to go on vacation to the Sierra for two and a half weeks, so I’ll be offline ’till mid-August. I’ll spend time camped in Tuolumne Meadows and take day hikes, using the  shuttle bus to get to trailheads. Then I’ll go around to Little Lakes Valley on the east side, above Hwy. 395 north of Bishop.

When I get back I’ll have stories and pictures to share. Stay tuned!

About David McCoard

After earning my MS in geology I've done various things including managing the ski touring program at a small lodge in the Sierra. In 2010 I retired from Contra Costa College in California. I've always been fascinated by the mountains and nature and have spent countless days hiking, backpacking, climbing and skiing in the Sierra. The spiritual insights I've learned there have set the course for my life. Now I have time to share them and strike up a conversation.

Dave awesome time up in Tuolumne Meadows, great meeting you and thanks again for the hospitality. It was a great trip. Cool site you got here.

Hi Dave, let me echo my son Brady’s comment: thanks to your generosity our four days in Tuolumne were indeed special. You are indeed a true “mountain man”! Chris, Brady and I will always remember your invitation to share your campsite after we saw the depressing “campsite full” sign.
Hike safe and we hope to see you again on the trail.
